Principles of Positive Thinking.

So many people don't realize that the frame of mind they have considerably affect the outcome of whatever they are setting out to accomplish. Whether it's something simple or something challenging.
Two of the best known authors on positive thinking and influencing people are the late Dr Vincent Norman Peale and Dale Carnegie.
Dale Carnegie was born into a very poor family and managed to climb his way to the top of the success ladder by uncovering strategies on how to ovecome his own fears.
Along the way he developed courage and self-confidence. As he uncovered these fears and personally developed himself along the way, he realized his ability to get along well with people and how to influence them.
He went on to write a New York Times best-seller and world famous book tittled "How to Win Friends and Influence People" which has been widely used in the business world and ordinary people alike.
Below are some of the key points on how to get people to like you that are outlined in his book.

Getting People to Like You.

  • Become genuinely interested in people. Show interest in areas of their lives that are important to them.
  • Smile - it cost nothing but enriched the lives of those around you. It may be contagious.
  • Remember peoples names. This is one point that will make a huge impression on people. Everyone loves the sound of their own name.
  • Be a good listener and encourage others to talk about themselves.
  • Make other people feel important - and be sure to do it sincerely and from the heart.
  • Give people praise and encouragement where deserved. People respond positively to praise and negatively to critisism.
  • Show respect for other peoples opinions. Never say your wrong.
  • If your wrong admit it quickly and empahatically.

When Dr Vincent Norman Peale was at college he had a serious inferiority complex. The amazing story of Dr Vincent Norman Peale began when his professor told him to have belief in himself a little more.
From that simple statement by his professor, his life began to turn around. This wonderful man dedicated over 60 years of his life to helping others discover a more positive approach to life.
Below are some tips he offers in his best seller "The Power of Positive thinking".

  • Believe in yourself. Formulate a mental picture of yourself succeeding; allow your mind to develop it further. Never allow yourself to think of failure.
  • Always expect the best. there is nothing logical or realistic about thinking of, or expecting failure. Expecting success will only improve your chances of attaining it.
  • Make the decision to never open your mouth unless what you are about to say is positive. Do not make remarks that depreciate your self-confidence, no matter how insignificant or casual they may seem.
  • Develop a peaceful mind. Whenever you're feeling agitated or worried, take a moment or two to fill your mind with peace and positive thoughts. Imagine a beautiful place you've been to, recall pleasant experiences, or you can pass peaceful thoughts or words such as "tranquillity" and "serenity" through your mind.
  • Choose happiness. Every morning when you get up out of bed you have a choice. The choice to be happy or unhappy - the choice is yours. Realize that you alone are responsible for you thoughts and can change them if you don't like them.
